About that Jayne tattoo…

June 22nd, 2008

When I mentioned AbbeyShot’s proposed Jayne hoodie, I also mentioned the replica of Jayne’s tattoo that AbbeyShot commissioned from fan-favorite Browncoat artist ArtCat. Thought you might like to take a peek.

This temporary tattoo is a recreation of the one on Jayne’s arm, and you don’t even have to get drunk or hit nobody to get it, neither (Drinking and brawling not included).

Measures 2.25″ wide, 2.75″ tall, just $3.00 each.

And don’t forget to go weigh in on AbbeyShot’s Jayne hoodie.  Do you want one? Would you want one? How much would you pay? And don’t neglect the vital pom-pom issue. Go!

Our new home

June 22nd, 2008

SerenityStuff has moved to a new server. At least I hope it has - what with server speeds and DNS tables and whatnot, for the next few days it may look and react in a somewhat funky manner. But it should be good soon, and on a reliable and somewhat cheaper host :) Hey, gotta keep this boat in the sky.

After Monday or so, if you should notice any lingering problems like missing pictures or bad links, please let me know and I’ll send my mechanic right in.

Now to catch up on all the stuff I held off posting till now. Hang on…

Want a Jayne hoodie? Better tell AbbyShot

June 20th, 2008

AbbyShot Clothier - whompers-up of the most famous browncoat of all - have a suggested design, if anyone is interested: a Jayne-hat-inspired hoodie. And they have plans to include a graphic of Jayne’s dragon tattoo, designed by fan-favorite artist ArtCat. But they need to know if anyone is interested…

Mainly, would you want one? Would you want the pom-pom on top? (Come on, gotta have the pom-pom…) How’s the price?

Head on over, check out all the pictures, and tell her what you think!

Black Market Beagles has redesigned

June 12th, 2008

Black Market Beagles was already one of my favorite sites even before founder Adam Levermore-Rich partnered with me to do a web comic, and now it’s even cooler. You may not know Adam but if you’ve been a Browncoat for long you know his work. He designs logos for Can’t Stop the Serenity events, Serenity posters and postcards for QMx, and his own designs for geek-friendly shirts. And now you can buy his licensed Serenity and Battlestar Galactica designs from his website! Go wander around and say hi for me.

Oh, and remember those limited edition CSTS posters from 2006? He’s unpacked his last few for sale. Signed and numbered. Don’t pass up this chance for a seriously cool design.

Awesomely awesome Serenity model in CSTS auction

June 12th, 2008

Alex Kung spent two years crafting an extremely drool-worthy Serenity model. It has lights. It has movable engines. It’s a foot long (note Serenity ornament in foreground, for comparison). And it can be yours, if you win the auction. Alex built this one for the Toronto Can’t Stop the Serenity screening and all proceeds will go to Equality Now. You can see more pictures (and a video) here.

You want this. I want this. So when you bid, bid low, and don’t worry about hanging around the last few minutes of the auction. Really, it’ll be fine…

Big news! Limited edition Serenity comic from Dark Horse and the Cali Browncoats

June 6th, 2008

Dark Horse Comics is really cool. They are unbelievably cool. They are, in fact, so unbelievably cool that they’ve joined forces with the California Browncoats to make a variant Serenity comic to sell at the San Diego Comic-Con, just to benefit Kids Need to Read.

Which is pretty cool, you gotta admit.

The California Browncoats will be selling the comics at SDCC. It will be a variant edition of “Serenity: Better Days #1″ with the Will Conrad wraparound cover art they used for their special DH 100 version, only this will display Will’s pencils instead. 32 pages, all the stuff from the first one, but with a cardstock cover for extra specialness. Only 5,000 will ever be available and they’ll be $10 each, a good portion of which goes to Kids Need to Read, the children’s literacy program founded by Nathan Fillion and author PJ Haarsma.

These will only be available at Comic-Con 2008, but even if you can’t go the California Browncoats are there for you. Specifically, on eBay, where on all five days of the con they’ll be selling copies of the DH-California Browncoats SDCC edition of Serenity. Again, all proceeds will go to Kids Need to Read. Bookmark their eBay page and be ready (I’ll give you a heads up when it gets close).

Major thanks to Dark Horse and to the Cali Browncoats sponsors Gabriel Stempinski, Margaret Weis Productions, Creation Entertainment, Poplollies.com, The Powers Team - Marsia and Eugene, Dwight Bragdon, Done The Impossible , SaveHiatus.com and Quantum Mechanix, who helped make this possible.

This is a great collectible and a great cause (funny how so many Whedon-based projects combine the two). Check out the California Browncoats site for more details.

You can wn Zoe’s bloody battle vest

June 6th, 2008

New at the Prop Store of London, the vest Zoe was wearing during the final battle. Note the tell-tale air conditioning slit in the back.

This fantastic costume was worn by Zoe in scenes at the end of the film when the crew are battling the Reavers, this top was used after the scene where Zoe is injured in the back. The brown leather waistcoat has a bloodied rip at the back and the lacing has been cut at the top and hangs loose.

Well, not here, precisely, but at a comics store near you. Or at TFAW.com, which has ‘em at 10% off. There’s two designs:

The Serenity lunchbox: “With the Serenity logo in brilliant litho-printed color on one side, and the ship herself on the other, bordered by the exotic intergalactic currency created for the film, this makes a striking lunch box for any Serenity fan to tote around.”

And the Fruity Oaty Bar lunchbox: “Serenity fans everywhere will be able to recognize each other when carrying the cute and colorful lunch box bearing the iconic images from the “Fruity Oaty Bar” commercial. If you know Fruity Oaty Bar, you know your Serenity! This attractive lunch box is an insider’s dream come true. Wow!”
