Custom etched shot glasses

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

firefly_shotglasses.jpgWhen you’re in a rundown bar somewhere celebrating Unification Day by picking out someone dumb and slow-moving, knock down a few in one of these beauties.

Brian’s etched shot glasses are very familiar to regular visitors of Firefly forums, and they’re now available from the eBay store Goodguycomics.

There are eight designs available (so far): the Blue Sun logo, Serenity, Serenity Browncoats, Big Damn Hero, the Alliance logo, the Independents logo, Firefly, and (my favorite) Browncoat Whiskey.

Custom action figures by Sasha

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

actionfigures_custom_sasha.jpgUnhappy with the first set of Serenity figures? Maybe the faces weren’t close enough, or you were just frustrated that they stopped with three characters? So was Sasha, so she started making her own.

Sasha Powell creates custom figures. BtVS, Angel, her own family and friends, and (wait for it) Firefly! She’s done one of each of the core cast and a few extra versions such as the frou-frou Kaylee (pictured) and busts of Mal, Inara, and the Hero of Canton. Starting from off-the-rack figures from Moore and McFarlane she cuts, slices, sculpts, melts and even boils them until she produces our heroes.

serenity_patch.jpgAre you in the Independent Army? Maybe Alliance Security? How about a nice Blue Sun patch for that jacket or ballcap? Or the Serenity logo, just the way it appears on the ship?

Browncoatpatches.com is ready to help.

Patches are sold individually, and there’s a Jayne Cobb Maidenhead Bar Patch Set consisting of a Blue Security patch, a Sergeant First Class patch, a triangular red security patch and a hexagonal patch like the one he wore on his shoulder, presumably keepsakes from previous victims. Serenity logo patches are also available in limited silver and gold Collector’s Edition versions with special packaging, individual numbers and security holograms (the gold one is pictured above). Order now!

Out to the Black Outfitters

Thursday, January 5th, 2006

outtotheblack.jpgMay not be the first, but certainly one of the oldest and busiest browncoat designers in the ‘verse. Shinyhappyklin, proprietess, designed the Browncoats shirt that the Serenity movie board adapted as their official one. Adam Baldwin wore one of her “Let’s Be Bad Guys” shirts during a SciFi.com interview and you can’t get cooler than that.

shk_losingside.jpgHer site, Out to the Black, has shirts, great looking bags (for your grenade needs), and artwork, plus she carries the Browncoat ribbon pins and lanyards from FireFlyGal. Out to the Black also has a CafePress shop with more browncoat designs, shirts and hats and more from the Shepherd’s Abbey and the Guild Sister’s Emporium, TV/movie quotes and a lot more. Clothing, housewares, caps, bags, prints, and more. Highly recommended.

shinyhappyklin.jpgYou can also see shinyhappyklin at conventions here and there, often in her guise of Prudence, the sister of Patience. She’s usually got stock with her and is happy to show off and chat with Browncoats. Unless she’s got her gun out, then you might want to approach with caution.

Broken down into categories for the picky browncoat, you can find character designs, Big Damn Hero shirts, baby reaver merchandise, collectible designs, very nice looking buttons, and probably more if you wait a few minutes and look again. Very highly recommended.

Updated: from what I can tell SS is now only selling at conventions. You can see the schedule here.
