Make your own Ariel EMT uniform
That Costume Girl present her detailed explanation of how to create award-winning Ariel EMT uniforms, complete with badges and ID card.
In a three-part series, TCG shows you what materials to gather, how to put it all together — with pictures of the process — and graphics files for the patches and card to download and modify for yourself.
And remember, if you don’t feel like doing it all yourself, Patches N Pins has some patches they’d be willing to help you with.

The only problem with the patches-n-pins ariel med patches is that they don’t sell one that fits the hat. the one they make for the hat is the same size as the one for the shoulder, and that is too big to fit on the hat. i informed them of this a while ago, but haven’t seen a new size patch pop up yet.

We are in the process of rectifying that.
We originally thought the shoulder patch would fit a ‘trucker’ type hat as worn in the show, as it is the same style patch, but it is a bit too large.
Because of the comments we have decided to obtain a smaller version just for the hat.
Any of our customers that have bought the set will be sent a new hat patch FREE of charge.

That’s awesome! I was hoping patches-n-pins would come through on this! I’ve gotten nearly all my firefly/serenity patches from them and they have great service and the best prices (FREE SHIPPING!). Can’t wait to get the new, smaller ariel hat patch!!

As far as I know those patches didn’t exist when I made the costumes last year. My patch sizes are a little different too. I’m happy to see the Chinese I came up with is very similar to the PnP’s version. Thanks for the post.

Cool beans.
I always thought that was one of the better ‘versy costumes to make, because almost no one but a browncoat would recognize you. But to a browncoat, it is instantly identifiable.
Thanks for putting up that tutorial! Maybe now I can actually make one.

It might have only been identifiable to Browncoats, but it didn’t stop several people from confusing us with actual EMTs. Including, well…actual EMTs. That’s two years in a row at DragonCon that I’ve been confused with staff members. Several people my first year there thought my Hands of Blue costume equalled Hotel Staff.
I don’t get it, personally. But, it is a credit to ThatCostumeGirl that her costumes looked that good.

Definitely don’t wanna stay at a hotel staffed by creepy, removed men with death-inducing magic wands. No thanks.

Con Attendee: “Excuse me…can you tell me where the nearest rest room is?”
Hand of Blue: “I didn’t travel 400 miles to tell you how to accomodate your bladder needs.” (Withdraws sonic wand and activates)
Sigh…Someday, the technology will be there.
