Look what I got in the mail…

Well, not both of them. Already had Serenity, I just put her in there to give you the scale. No, I’m talking about the unshielded, blood-dripping, pieced-together-from-every-other-damn-ship Redaver ship ornament from Dark Horse. It’s on sale now, and this is what you get.

Like Inara’s outfits? You’ll love her stunt outfit

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

prop_inaracostume.jpgIt’s not what Morena Baccarin wore, but it’s the next best thing.

This costume was worn by Inara’s stunt double in the scenes near the end of the film on Mr Universe’s planet where the gang are trying to fight off Reavers. It consists of a pair of black wide legged trousers which have a leather waist band (labelled ‘Inara Stunt Dbl’)and a bra top that is made from gold and dark red fabric with black leather and gold cord and decorated with faux pearls and gold coloured shapes. Comes with the costumiers label detailing the costume and scenes. No sizes marked.

Firefly DVDs $17.99 at Target

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

target_sale.jpgSaw this mentioned around the Interwebs yesterday but wanted to verify. Target has Firefly has on sale for $17.99, and you can’t beat that price. I’ve tried.

So I bought another copy. Had to; I gave mine to my brother-in-law. Last one the store had, unfortunately (see pic), but you should run over to your own neighborhood Target and stock up yourself. There’s gotta be someone you know who appreciate the best show on TV for the price of an extra large pizza. This is in-store only.

Reavers have landed at TFAW.com

Friday, April 18th, 2008

dh_reavership.jpgThe newest ship ornament from Dark Horse is now in stock at TFAW.com. And at 10% off the asking price…

With the fabulous response we’ve received for our Serenity ships, we are happy to continue with this line of ornaments. Last month we offered Inara’s Shuttle, and this month we are pleased to announce the Reaver Ship.

Fans of Firefly and Serenity will be familiar with the look of the Reaver ships, created from abandoned ships and spare parts, with their threatening red markings. In Serenity, the Reaver Ships emerge from an ion storm in the quest for Mal and his crew. We’ve based our ornament on one of the memorable, menacing ships in this scene.

5 1/2″ long, 2″ wide, can be hung or placed on stand for display. Order it now and get it for $35.99, 10% off the retail price. And so your fleet begins…  I’ll get pictures up as soon as mine arrives, so check back.

Win a dinner with Jewel Staite (and Paul McGillion)

Friday, April 18th, 2008

ebay_jewelstaite.jpgBabz Chula is an award-winning Canadian actress whose breast cancer, once thought gone, has returned. To help out, a whole mess of Canadian actors have chipped in to raise money, including one (1) Jewel Staite. Kayle has gone and put herself up for auction (for a dinner, mind you. Be nice.). Also, you get to talk to some Paul McGillion guy (Stargate Atlantis).

You’ve only got another couple days to get your bid in. And check around the other auctions, too: more dinners with David Duchovny, Nicholas Lea, Chris Carter, Callum, Keith Rennie and Peter DeLuise. And movie memorabilia such as an autographed slate from the upcoming “X-Files” movie and original shooting scripts for the Burt Lancaster film Atlantic City and the Robert Altman flick Quintet.

Can’t Stop the Serenity… but you can slow it down, apparently

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Devastating news from theonetrueb!x, founder of the Can’t Stop the Serenity charity screenings:

Word filters out today that Can’t Stop the Serenity, the worldwide charity event which I founded in 2006 and which thus far has raised more than $160,000 for Equality Now faces an unexpected challenge: The destruction (against very clear and explicit instructions inside Universal itself, I should make clear) of all but twelve of the domestically-available prints of the film.

In essence, this means that any American city which has not yet booked a print of the film for its event this year will have to decide whether to change to another date (if they were aiming for the central dates) in order to book a print, stick with the central weekend of the event but project the film from a DVD (if their venue even has the capability to do so), or cancel their event altogether (something I assume all cities would only consider as a last resort).

Browncoats have been thrown some hard cheese before and we still come out all right, so don’t think for a second that there won’t be charity screenings. Just may have to get more creative, that’s all… Be sure to keep an eye on CantStoptheSerenity.com for more news.
