Firefly tea

Monday, March 31st, 2008

adagio_fireflytea.jpg

Adagio Teas has made a name for itself for their line of unique, quality loose teas (with convenient and easy-to-handle mesh pouches, so no paper tabs and strings to lose in your cup). And now they have a Firefly brew:

‘Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand. I don’t care…’ I’ve my tea! Inspired by the fabulous Joss Whedon’s sci-fi show, this tea is a mixture of all things a gunslinging space cowboy (or girl) could want. The smoky kick of gunpowder, the elegant softness of mandarin oranges and just a hint of the wild, but sweet, side of life. A perfect brew for all the browncoats out there!

Bank heist money, signed by practically everybody

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

prop_moneysigned.jpgHere’s a heck of a collectable. New at The Prop Store of London, one of the bank heist money bills used in the movie, signed by… well, I’ll let them tell it.

This specially made prop money was used in the heist scene at the beginning of the movie and also in the Maidenhead bar sequence. Made from paper with “Five Hundred” printed on it and with a wonderfully colourful oriental dragon and planet designs on it. It has been signed by cast members Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarin, Adam Baldwin, Jewel Staite, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, Ron Glass, Yan Feldman, Rafael Feldman and Christina Hendricks. It comes framed and glazed with a colour photograph of the cast and the movie logo has been laser cut out of velvet finish mount board. The display measures 37cm x 72cm (14.5″ x 28.5″). All signatures were obtained at the Flanvention in Los Angeles.

AbbyShot has Zoe vests

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

abbeyshot_zoe.jpgAs long as I was checking out clothing, thought I’d see what AbbyShot was up to. Turns out that along with the beautifully detailed Mal Browncoat, she also makes authentic Zoe leather vests.

Rugged yet elegant, Zoe and her world are all about contradictions. Who ever thought that sci-fi and western themes could collide to make something so beautiful? AbbyShot pays tribute the television show that changed the face of science fiction with this western-styled leather vest designed JUST for the ladies.

Our designers always make womens’ apparel that looks as good (and works as hard) as you do! True Browncoats love the screen-accuracy (of course!) and everyone is impressed with the elegance of this design. The whole garment is contoured to your body with fully adjustable straps to give it that perfect fit. Before you head out “into the black” let AbbyShot outfit you for your next adventure!

Unofficial but oddly familiar items at Space City Costumes

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

spacecitycostumes.jpg

At Space City Costumes they have a variety of almost outfits. They have robes and tunics that are almost Jedi-ish in nature, a few outfits that are vaguely Trekkish, and these items from their Brown Duster Heroes line. There’s the Brown Duster of course, the Duster Pants, and the aptly named “Crazy Girl Dress.”

These are not the exact duplicates you might get from licensed manufacturers but they’re a hell of a lot cheaper and good enough for cosplay or con wear.

QMx Serenity Money packs on sale at TFAW.com

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

tfaw_moneypack.jpgMy daddy always told me you gotta spend money to get money, but this week at least you won’t have to spend quite so much. Things From Another World put their Serenity Money Packs on sale for 25% off, and you already know how cool they are.

This limited edition Alliance currency money pack is a beautiful addition to any collection of Serenity prop replicas. Each set contains 12 bills (6 red and 6 blue) and an Alliance money band as well as a full color Miranda map.

Limited one per customer.

DH 100 Serenity Better Days variant cover now out in the world

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

dh_betterdaysvariant.jpg

100 retailers won the Dark Horse 100 contest and received 10 each of this ultra-rare version of “Serenity: Better Days” #1 with a wrap-around cover by artist Will Conrad. That means only 1000 of these were made, and you know you want one. How can that happen?

First, check the list of winners to see if your local comic store was one of the lucky ones, and then head over there and start your begging. You’re a known browncoat there, right? Friendly and helpful and one of the regulars? Depending on the store, maybe you’ll get lucky.

If not, head to eBay, where they’re already popping up for sale. Prices are varying wildly, so try different combinations of search terms to see if you can nab one that maybe not everyone is seeing.

Good luck, travelers, and if you find any good sources please post ‘em in the comments.

More Serenity knickknacks

creation_votivedogtag.jpg

While checking out Creation Entertainment’s store for other stuff, I noticed even more new items. A Serenity votive candle holder (perfect for your Can’t Stop the Serenity shrine) and a Mal/River dogtag.

Again, ehh. I’m all for merchandise, but slapping the logo on something doesn’t always work for me. Your mileage may vary, and more power to you. They’re there if you want ‘em.

New from TFAW.com - Patches and pictures

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

tfaw_patchesnpics.jpg

Just noticed in TFAW.com’s preorder pile - which is crammed with Serenity goodies and T-shirts coming out in the next few months - these two new, somewhat vague items.

First we have a Serenity Patch Set: “Collect four patches as seen in Joss Whedon’s sci-fi epic, Serenity, with this patch set!” Which is well and good but we don’t get to see which patches or what sizes.

And the Serenity Collages 2008 Photo Set: “Revisit Joss Whedon’s Serenity with this collection of five photo collages featuring characters from the hit film! Featuring Inara, River, Mal, Wash, and Simon, these collages measure 8′ x 10′ and are suitable for framing or autographing!”

Serenity merchandise junkie though I am, I’ll need more info on both these items before I plunk down the asking prices, even with TFAW’s 20% off pre-order pricing. $22.39 for the patches is reasonable enough for good quality, but $23.19 for 5 pictures? Ehh. I’ll wait for a better description. UPDATED: The pics looked familiar so I checked over at the Creation Entertainment Serenity store, and they’ve got all 4 patches and 5 collage pics for sale individually and you can order them right now. But if you’re buying the sets, preordering them from TFAW is cheaper.

But check out the rest of the pre-order stuff. Tons of shirts, hoodies, mugs, lunchboxes, and a Reaver ship ornament are all waiting to be drooled over, at 20% off.
