New Serenity campaign: Faces of Serenity
Want to show Universal just how much money they stand to make from more Serenity? This site aims to do just that by letting fans display how much we’ve spent already.
The idea is simple. Use the printable forms to list everything Firefly/Serenity related you’ve purchased, and send those in to Uni. And pile it up and take a picture of yourself with it all to post on the FacesofSerenity.com site, to make it more personal. You can even choose to be on a specific “team” to get some competition going.
The site is still under construction but he’s accepting submissions now, so go check it out. And if you submit a photo, tell him you’re on the SerenityStuff team. If we wouldn’t know about buying Serenity merchandise, who would?
My problem? Finding a way to fit everything I have into one picture. I may need to use Google Maps…

This is mrmgraphics, admin of facesofserenity.com. Just wanted to say it was great seeing this post! Also, as per your getting your site members into the spirit of friendly competition, a SerenityStuff “Team Album” has just been created in the facesofserenity.com Gallery. (Note: As with other Team Albums, cat pics are in place right now for testing purposes.)
In keeping with the community spirit of facesofserenity.com, the Team Albums promote both the facesofserenity cause, and also the online communities they represent. When your Team Album is clicked on, you’ll see an area for Team photos (again, cat pics in place right now), as well as a Team SerenityStuff icon and a brief description of your site. The icon also links back to your site, which will encourage traffic. (This will be especialy true if your members have a lot of neat, hard-to-find merchandise in their pics, as visitors to FOS will certainly want to know where to find it.)
Looking forward to getting your pics online!

I’m assuming you mean list only *official* and *licensed* stuff we bought…. :)
(that changes the pile a bit)

Actually, I’d want a clarification on that, as well.
Hate like heck to have everything forwarded to Universal’s legal department for the latest attack of C&D’s (cease-and-desist letters).
BUT, adding all that “unofficial” merchandise to the pile would show them what a goldmine they’re missing…

Umm… indeed - after all, do genuine onscreen props and costumes from SERENITY and the original boxed FIREFLY press kit count as ‘official’ or not? I do know they cost a *lot* (and are probably worth much more now too), but is that value relevant? I’d argue yes - in fact, what’s the difference between the cash I spent on an ‘unofficial’ t-shirt as opposed to the cash I spent on an ‘official’ one? Simply that Universal etc. aren’t making that money off me! All they need to do is realise this… Oh, and make some more Firefly/Serenity, of course! *sigh*

mrmgraphics from the FOS campaign again.
Regarding the inclusion of unlicensed or unofficial stuff in pics and on FOS forms: YES, include EVERYTHING! Universal already has the numbers for the ‘Verse-related merchandise they’ve licensed. But that’s NOT the whole picture of the market for our ‘Verse, and if they are ever going to consider creating new products (a sequel), they need to see everything that we Browncoats are buying. This includes unlicensed merchandise, admission to fan cons, Firefly-related merchandise…everything.
Remember: Each dollar spent on a part of the ‘Verse that did NOT come from Uiversal is a dollar that Universal LOST. We need to show them just how many dollars they’ve lost, and continue to lose, so that they see just how many dolars they stand to gain by continuing the ‘Verse via a Serenity sequel.
Great question!

Yes, I agree about needing to use Google Maps. Or an overhead shot by a helicopter. Maybe a panoramic shot, or a four-photo composite. Sitting at my desk, just the things I’m in eye-shot of (and I’m visually impaired) is too big to fit in one frame. :)
Also, I would like to say that I love this site. I have bought several things off the recommendations provided herein. Keep it up! We all work for certain reasons, right? … Besides the satisfaction I get from my work at a non-profit, “Firefly” stuff is the reason *I* work.
