Andy, I am considering returning it for a replacement, but I’m not to keen on waiting an unspecified amount of time. So, I am also still debating on attempting a fix. I think the stand is quite shiny, and would like to keep it - if I can get the risers straight, of course. Anyway, I’m guessing from the sellout response you’ve had with these, that there will be more in the near future!?!?

Jim, Thanks for the tip! I’d really rather not glue them, because as you said I may want to dismantle it for storage or something. But tape may not be enough. The risers do fit pretty snuggly, but they tilt. When I hold them straight with my fingers, there is significant pressure required to it. So, I’m not sure tape will do the trick. I guess it’s worth a shot though. I’ve looked closely at the slots and risers and can’t see why they would be tilting. It is very odd!

Keel, I’m sorry you are having trouble. I just checked mine and the risers fit quite snuggly into their slots.

I would recommend using a couple layers of clear cellophane tape on the sides of the risers to give them a tighter fit. Cut the tape narrow enough that it doesn’t show when they are installed back into the slots. I wouldn’t glue them just in case you want take it apart at some later date for storage.

It takes some doing. As I said, I didn’t realize it came off until I saw a comment from someone who did it. The cardboard/wood-looking thing peels off, you have to catch the edge or corner with a fingernail and work it off. Once you get it started it peels easily enough, and the surface underneath is black and shiny.

How’d you get the top surface to be black? Is the wood looking surface peel off or something? Mine doesn’t appear to be but I could be a complete fool.
