March with Joss and Mutant Enemy

f4w_serenitystuff.pngIt's official! Joss and his Mutant Enemy buddies are planning a Mutant Enemy Fan Day. Many of the ME people have been contacted and reportedly so far Jane Espenson, Doug Petrie, Amber Benson, and Adam Busch will definitely be there on the strike line picketing at FOX with Joss, and, hopefully, you. Come pick up a picket sign and march to show your support of our favoite writers. Best of all, Joss has promised that in the unlikely (but welcome) event of a concluded strike, some sort of celebration will happen anyway.

The event will be at the FOX studios (20th Century Fox Studios, 10201 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles) , Dec. 7, from 10 am to 2 pm. More details — and a lot of woo hooing, hotel information, directions and rapid plan-making – are available here.

And, in a display of utter cosmic rightness, the Nuart Theater in West LA will have a midnight showing of "Serenity" that same night. Click here for tickets.

I'll be there myself, in my first-ever West Coast visit. Don't let that keep you from attending.

I wish I were rich enough to fly to LA for this! I was fortunate enough to be able to go with a friend and strike with Jane Espenson on the first day of the strike (we were still there from the Starfury convention and didn't fly out until later that day). It was wonderful, not something many fans get to experience.

Folks – even if you can't make it to this Joss-day thing, but you can join them at some other time – please do it. The writers and everyone else involved with Firefly have all done so much to give us the things that are important to us. They write our shows, they come talk to us at conventions, they blog, they are all there for us. There has never been a way for us as fans to return that, besides saying thank you. Until now.

Now, we have a way to do something that is important to *them*. How special is that? We will probably never again have a chance like this. This is important in their lives, and we can say thank you by standing at their sides in this.

On our brief stint on the strike line, we were posted with Jane Espenson and the rest of the BSG writers. I lost track of the number of times we were thanked for coming. Your support *is* appreciated. The people driving by are friendly and supportive, even the police were being friendly and protective. You feet might be sore at the end, but you'll be glad you went.

And don't forget the strike song (to a familiar tune) written by myself, Cedric of the Bedlam Bards, and Mr. Serenity Stuff himself, in honor of the forthcoming Mutant Enemy Day.

There's the first strike song, too, B!xmeister, written to the tune of the Ballad of Serenity. ;) Written and recorded by myself. :)

I hope to hear both of them sung on December 7th by participants!
