Wave Cards for a Sequel

qmx_cards.jpgGot another fan campaign brewin', folks, suggested by Companion Kate at serenitymovie.net, and Cedric of the Bedlam Bards has the best summary of it:

Ni-howdy, Browncoats,

We live in exciting times. I'm sure you know that Joss Whedon hinted that Universal would be taking a close look at Serenity Collector's Edition sales, and that Alan Tudyk recently let it slip that there are rumblings about a sequel at Universal. Now is the time to let our voices be heard.

That's why I'm writing to you to endorse the wavecard writing campaign recently proposed over on The Signal forum.

Basically, the idea is quite simple. Quantum Mechanix sells packs of really shiny 'Verse-themed postcards. If you haven't seen 'em, check 'em out. They're pretty and funny.

So the plan is to order sets of these cards, write a note asking (politely) for Serenity sequel on each one, and send them to Universal at this address:

Universal Pictures
100 Universal City Plaza
Universal City, CA 91608

Why is this letter writing campaign different from those of the past?

First off, timing. We know Universal is on the verge of greenlighting the Big Damn Sequel.

Second off, Universal Licensed Products. In the film industry, money talks, so by sending these wavecards, which are official licensed products, we're putting money in Universal's pocket and underscoring the potential for lots more profit.

Third, this time, we're all behind it. Only you can make sure that we do the impossible—again. When all the Browncoats stand united, there's not a power in the 'Verse that can stop us.

Let's make it happen, folks,

Cedric

To help things along, QMx has temporarily dropped the price on the Blue Sun Travel Wave Cards by $5. For some tips on what to write, check out this indispensable primer on fan campaigns.

You can get the postcards at the reduced price at either QMx or Amazon. There's 25 cards to a pack, so you'll have plenty to send around and still keep a set for yourself.

And you know, buying more Serenity Collector's Edition DVDs couldn't hurt…

Thanks for posting this Chris. I ordered my Wave Cards for this BDLetter Writing Campaign. I also dropped a message at Universal's Firefly Board to spread the word as far out to the edge as possible. Also, thanks Qmx for the price drop!!!

Actually, a really good idea someone had on Whedonesque was to tape a UPC from the Serenity CE DVD to the wavecard.

    I'm in.

Ohh, sounds good! I'm planning to buy some wavecards at Serenity LA, and I'll be sure to do this. I have limited faith in letter-writing, but….it can't do any harm. And it'll be a fun thing to do with a card or two.

I just got an email that my Wave Cards have shipped. I like the idea of attaching the UPC from the CE DVD. I will also attach the UPC from the standard DVD. I looked on the Firefly set but there is no code on the package. I hope a lot of us are participating in this campaign. There hasn't been very much buzz about it here or on the Universal Board.

Is there any stores that sell this postcards? Internet is unfortunately not an option for me at the moment. *cry*……..also I don't want just a second movie…..I WANT A WHOLE NEW SERIES OF FIREFLY!

  • Donn Mukensnable says:

Please post HERE the address & contact person at Universal to send these cards to. This should be someone in the position to appreciate and escalate the requests, not a generic location such as "fan feedback", please.

    Keep it Shiny,
    Donn
