QMx becomes first charter sponsor of Can’t Stop the Serenity
QMx has announced that they will continue to sponsor the Can’t Stop the Serenity events as long as we keep having them.
July 2, 2007, Collegeville, PA - Quantum Mechanix, Inc. (QMx), a privately held developer of licensed, high-quality entertainment replicas, today announced results of its global sponsorship of the “Can’t Stop The Serenity” (CSTS) charity screenings, and its commitment to be a charter sponsor for this important event in years to come.
The screenings of the movie Serenity are organized by Serenity/Firefly fan groups around the world to coincide on or around director Joss Whedon’s June 23rd birthday. Proceeds from the screenings and related sales and auctions directly benefit Equality Now, a charitable organization that endeavors to end violence and discrimination against women worldwide. Equality Now is Joss Whedon’s favorite charity, which is why Browncoats organize this massive fund-raising event.
As a first-time global sponsor of CSTS, QMx has been so impressed by the CSTS team’s efforts that the company has committed to be a global sponsor of the event for as long as the effort continues and urges other vendors in the Serenity marketplace to join in.
“Anyone who knows the QMx team knows this - we’re Browncoats. And like any good Browncoat, we see it as our duty to support this most worthy cause in any way we can,” said Andy Gore, Director of Marketing at QMx. “So not only are we pledging our support in perpetuity to the ‘Can’t Stop The Serenity’ efforts, we challenge other vendors who have benefited from the generosity of the Browncoat community to do the same.”
In addition to donating Serenity Money Packs to all CSTS screening locations to use in their fund-raising efforts, QMx also donated for auction a signed prototype of an unannounced product and an artist’s proof of the sold-out Official Serenity Blueprints.“We are very committed to supporting Equality Now,” said Brian Wiser, QMx Marketing Manager. “We can thing of no better way to express our gratitude to a community that has been so supportive of our efforts.”
“QMx has been nothing short of amazing in their support of the CSTS global events,” said Devin Pike, global coordinator for the 2007 “Can’t Stop the Serenity” events. “Having their support pledged throughout the event’s run speaks volumes about their commitment to not just the Browncoat community, but the world at large. We’re looking forward to working with QMx for many years to come.”

“QMx also donated for auction a signed prototype of an unannounced product…”
For the life of me, I can’t find any reference to this prior to this post.

I mentioned it here - http://www.serenitystuff.com/2007/06/22/new-fan-stuff-from-qmx/ - after getting a heads up from Andy Gore at QMx about it (without details).

Got it. The SF people don’t seem to ever come by the global CSTS boards, so there was not a single mention of this item there. Heh.

b!X: I had the feeling they didn’t want to spread it around since they were giving out a prototype of something that still hasn’t been officially announced yet — I didn’t get the heads-up till the day before and I still wasn’t given details.
Ezma: Yup. They prolly got the same press release. Although I do get a lot of info from Whedonesque and other sites, and I post there as well. We’re an incestuous lot.
