The ‘Verse on MySpace

Dunno if you’ve been checking, but there’s a fair amount of the ‘verse on MySpace.

CAST
Among the zillions of wannabes, imposters, and sincere but unofficial fan and tribute sites, there are some actual Big Damn Heroes out there.
Nathan Fillion - Captain, our captain, and semi-regular blogger. His posts don’t appear often, but when they do they’re long and rambling and hilarious. I joined MySpace specifically to read his entries and I’m very glad I did. And so should you.
Jewel Staite - Not as bubbly as Kaylee in real life, but every bit as cute and now we get to hear about her career, her husband, her love of “Lost” and shoes, and how she unwinds after a hard day (hint: it involves “Lost.” And shoes.)
Mark Sheppard - Our loveable, utterly untrustworthy businessman Badger is there as well. Not many posts, but he does keep you updated on his career. Currently he’s popping up in BattleStar Galactica and will be in the pilot for “The Bionic Woman.”
Gregg Lee Henry - The sheriff from “The Train Job,” and the mayor from “Slither,” among many other roles. He blogs off and on, and he has a music page with some of his own pieces on it.
Rafael Feldman - Fanty from “Serenity” (the prettier one). Occasional posts about his doings and indy projects.
Michael Hitchcock - Dr. Matthais from “Serenity.” No blog entries I noticed, but he does check in.

But it doesn’t stop there. Look what else you can find!

SITES / ORGANIZATIONS:
There are far too many Browncoats and Browncoat groups to list here — and not all of them would appreciate the unsolicited link, anyway — but you can find a lot of friendly folks by checking out these sites.
Whedonesque.com - the most up-to-date source of Whedon news anywhere. Well, the site is, their MySpace page is still pretty bare. But you can certainly find a lot of mutual acquaintances there.
Whedonopolis - Another good source of Whedony news and events.
Can’t Stop the Serenity - the organization working to put “Serenity” back on the big screen in June to commemorate Joss’ borthday and to raise money for Equality Now.
Browncoat Cruise - coming in December 2007, sail the seas with fellow travelers and a Big Damn Hero or two.
Equality Now - Joss’s favorite charity, and one that Browncoats support wholeheartedly.
Browncoat Charities - a master list of Browncoat-worthy causes on MySpace.
Big Damn Chefs Cookbook - the folks that assembled the Big Damn Chefs cookbook for charity. Work has already begun on volume 2!

MUSIC:
“Firefly” fans are some creative people, there’s no doubt. Go enjoy some ‘versy music.
Sonny Rhodes - Blues artist who supplied the vocals for the “Firefly” theme song, “The Ballad of Serenity” (written by Joss Whedon).
The Bedlam Bards - Hawke and Cedric sing songs of outlaws, pirates, sailing ships, misadventures, and strong drink, but especially they sing of “Firefly.”
Emerald Rose - Celtic band with a lot of love for “Firefly.”
Firefly Music Project - some great original songs, well worth checking out.
Stan Peal - creator of the classic “Jayne’s Hat” song.Mbr /> River and the Reavers - a musical group consisting of River Tam and her cannibalistic backup singers.

PODCASTS:
Firefly Talk - bi-weekly Firefly podcast.
Sending a Wave - UK-based Firefly/Serenity podcast.

FANSTUFF
Bellflower - an Australian Firefly fanfilm company, looking to make their own ‘versy productions.
Into the Black - A Firefly fanfilm group in Vancouver.
BrownQuote - get daily Firefly quotes for your MySpace page!

COMICS:
Dark Horse Comics - publisher behind the Serenity “Those Left Behind” mini-series, and several cool Serenity toys and collectibles. They often run contests and sneak previews on their MySpace page.
“Serenity: Those left Behind”
Will Conrad - artist.
Tim Bradstreet - Book cover for #2.
Jo Chen - Kaylee cover for #2.
Sean Phillips - Wash cover for #3.

STUDIOS:
FOX - I’m still unhappy with how they treated “Firefly,” but they do have the episodes of “Drive” up to view and that’s pretty close.
NBC/UNIVERSAL - The people that brought us “Serenity.”

And of course I’m there, with regular updates on ‘versy stuff and more. Come on by!

If you know of other cast, crew, or related MySpace pages I should list, let me know! And feel free to list your own page in the comments.
