At least it’s a dino this time

prop_WashGreyDino.jpgThe Prop Store of London presents another Alan-Tudyk-signed plastic toy that can’t be conclusively verified as having had screen time, but at least it’s the right species.

Small gray dinosaur, autographed by Tudyk and provided by Universal. On sale now!

I’ve begun to wonder whether or not these folks *really* have authentic stuff. Ever notice how so much of what they sell was “worn in a deleted scene that never made it into the film” or can’t be verified with screen time in the series? Just because someone sewed in a tag *saying* it was made for this actor or that one doesn’t mean it was, and celebrity autographs get forged all the time…

And considering Tudyk’s signature looks like a random scribble to begin with…

Still, at least they’re up front with whether or not the thing’s gotten any screen time. Makes me think that if anyone’s being dishonest, it’s Universal who might just get their hands on some toy that might’ve gotten signed at a convention or something and then they sell it off to the prop store for 50 bucks or something claiming that it’s “official.”

Or they forged the signature and did it.

Or, some prop guy bought a thousand of those stupid dinosaurs and Joss & Alan picked a dozen or so of them to be put on the screen, and then Universal paid Alan 10 bucks per signature to sign the other thousand or so.

Makes sense to me, but I doubt that a store that’s able to get its hands on all sorts of genuine movie crap and selling T-Shirt’s for thousands of dollars is really going around to KB Toys and buying up some crappy plastic dinos to forge a signature to get a measly 250 bucks off of them.

I mean, sure, that sounds like a good scam to me, but to a business who’s selling the genuine article for so much more money, I doubt they’d risk selling fake crap and have nobody buy from them anymore because of it.

I mean, how many of these dinos are actually getting sold, anyway?
