Make your own CG Serenity

lightwaveserenity.jpgSome of you may remember the fantastic Lightwave model of Serenity made by Sean Kennedy some time back. If you’re interested in making your own insanely detailed 3D model, he’s been posting a step-by-step tutorial here.

Aside from the cool versy aspects of it, this is also an incredible tutorial on using Lightwave, the VertiBevil plugin, texturing, and more. You’ll need to know the basics or you’ll get lost very quickly, but this tears the old girl apart and examines every minute detail in, you know, detail.

Lots of pictures throughout. You can also find the tutorials in PDF form here, but I advise going through the forum posts because he answers questions as he goes.

This weekend I collaborated with Lynn Lefey and produced a new variant on the Firefly class spaceship, using my old mesh as a base.
The mesh and deck plans are for use with the Serenity Role Playing Game.
The variant is based on a description from the rule book of a blockade runner version of the ship used during the Alliance/Indenpendent war.

here is a zip file containing the custom blockade runner schematics (4.11MB)

here is a zip file containing the standard blockade runner schematics (5.6MB)

    Each image is 2000×2000 pixels

The Deckplans were produced by Lynn:

Seans tutorial is aboslutely awesome and I’d seriously recommend it to anyone wanting to learn 3D.

I am loving every minute of the time I get to spend on it and Seans generosity and hard work is a total inspiration.

This guy WAS burdened with an over-abundance of schooling I can tell ya, Shiny!

Cokai is right. If you want to learn LW, or love Serenity or both, follow the tutorial. BTW http://www.lwg3d.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29743 is the link to the completed Skiff.

the tutorial is only 11 steps or a 30 step tutorial, there was a tutorial on a forum on lwg3d.org but lwg3d no loner exists, therefore only half of the ship can be modeled ( unless you want to try yourself, ive tried but with no luck) ive tried looking for other tutorials but with no luck.

It disheartens me greatly that they would stop such a great show, it is probably my favorite sci-fi show ever. I have a website here that contains the link to all things Serenity/Firefly related in lego, though i did not build these im sure fellow fans would greatly appreciate this.
1.)Search box—-type in Firefly or Serenity
2.)Check it out, nd explore the creations.
    =) Have fun guys
