Abby’s SL Serenity

The Serenity at Washtown in Second Life isn’t the only one. I actually saw this one first.
It’s by Abby Dawson and it’s a work in progress. Currently at over 600 prims (shapes) it’s not as accurate a Serenity as the one by Fenix Eldritch that Washtown now boasts, but it’s more furnished, it’s hovering instead of being parked, and it has firing engines courtesy of Hinkley Baldwin and operational shuttles by Ilyara Tardis. Take a peek?

Here’s the back of the old girl. Inside the cargo bay is roomy, detailed, and has a frozen girl in a box. What more could you want?

I get the oddest feeling that I could hunt for years and never find all the hiding places in this ship.

The sickbay has an examining table, a comfy one I might add, and assorted monitors including one featuring a dancing Nathan. I’m assuming it was a diagnostic tool of some sort. The engine turns nicely, and Kaylee’s hammock looks awfully inviting. No passenger dorms or crew bunks, I’m afraid, or at least not yet.

Clearly Kaylee has been here, because the dining room has her touch. When I was visiting there was also a toaster screaming offers of toast, but it was dealt with. With, I believe, a mallet.

And finally, the place where it all happens. Not much in the way of detailed control panels here so far, but there is a big button that’s impossible not to press. I’m honestly not sure what it does, but it was curiously satisfying.
While it doesn’t have the level of detail, it’s also not as tight to walk through as the Washtown ship and there are teleport spots here and there to jump to different areas. Visitors are welcome and you can listen to her tell you how bad she is at designing. Since my crowning glory at building in SL so far has been a rain stick, I hope she’ll excuse me if I think she’s a pretty gorram good designer.
Look for “Abby’s Serenity” in Rua to check it out, or (if you have SL installed) just click here.

Last time I was there, the big button turned the side engines on and off. Of course, it’s kinda hard to *see* that from inside, but still.

I hate the fact that this website exists. I hope nobody views it because I like to take people back here and say “yeah, I made this. All by me. Abby? Abby who?”

Modest though she may be…Abby is an amazing designer. And regarding Darce’s comment, well let’s just say she likes to play “doctor” in the sick bay.
