Jason Palmer’s limited edition River print

Monday, August 21st, 2006

jp_river.jpgJason Palmer, the artist creating licensed artwork of the BDHs, is beginning a cast series and the first one is now available: River.

This is the Serenity River, in a blue dress and armed. And it’s fantastic.

This edition will be limited to 300 Giclee prints and 100 fine art canvas prints, signed and numbered by the artist. Copies of each one will be presented to the cast member, which is just cool. You’d better start saving now since Palmer plans to release the entire cast by the end of the year.

Go check it out, and then try not to buy one. G’head, try.

Big Damn Hero shirts

Monday, August 21st, 2006

so_bigdamnhero.jpgMight as well just come out and say it.

New at Stylin’ Online, a new official licensed design: our very own captain, with “Big Damn Hero” emblazoned alongside on a heavyweight preshrunk 6oz. cotton brown tee. Available in sizes from small to XXXL.

Stylin Online has a nice range of official Serenity shirts and even a hoodie and we need all the licensed stuff we can get.

Sure would be nice to draw some grenades right about now

The Serenity ornament is SHINY!

Saturday, August 19th, 2006

serenity_ornament.jpg

Oh, the wonders my mailbox had for me today: I got my Serenity ornament! This, this is a gorgeous thing.

The ornament from Dark Horse Deluxe is 6 1/2″ long and full detailed, with a nice heft to it. Light enough to be a Christmas ornament (it comes with a detachable hook and loop in the top) but heavy enough to fit snugly on the enclosed optional base. It’s sort of a bronzy gun metal color, with blue on the panels and the engine flames. The base is black with felt pads; Serenity fits on top at an angle for a mid-swoop effect. Bigger pics below.

You know the definition of a hero’s costume?

Friday, August 18th, 2006

prop_redtbrowntrousers.jpgIt’s a rust colored shirt and brown pants, apparently.

One of the most affordable costumes from the movie that The Prop Store of London has offered yet, these are the duds worn by the guy in the movie that Mal pushes off the mule and then shoots before the Reavers eat him. Pants are 32/32, shirt is a medium. No bite marks or bullet holes.

Summer of Serenity fan trailer contest

Thursday, August 17th, 2006

Announced at FireflyFans.net (after the details were hammered out in several other threads… I love the Internet), you are being asked to produce your own Firefly episode trailer. How would you advertise one of the shows to get people interested?

“One important caveat: these would NOT be music videos. Text frames and episode video with snippets of dialogue would be used together to introduce the storylines in an intriguing fashion. Think in terms of the episode teasers that FOX aired for the series, only…um…these would be better. Not only better, also without the irritating announcer voiceover.”

Simon says buy this for charity

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

prop_simoncostume.jpgSimon’s medical disguise from the beginning of “Serenity” is currently on auction at eBay to benefit Equality Now.

The costume, donated by The Prop Store of London, “It consists of a pair of grey soft leather trousers and a matching jacket made from the same material which has an Alliance medical logo imprinted on the chest.” It also comes with the undershirt and socks he was wearing, as well as an autographed 8×10 of Sean Mahrer.

95% of the proceeds will go to benefit Joss’ favorite charity, Equality Now, which works to end violence and discrimination against women and girls around the world through the mobilization of public pressure. Don’t miss this chance to get  apiece of the movie and feel good about yourself doing it!

Don’t fear the reavers, dress like them

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

Prop_sammyreavercostume.jpgThe Prop Store of London once again delves into low fashion with this stunning number.

“It consists of faded grey trousers, a ripped brown waterproof jacket, a black t-shirt (size small) with the elasticated collar cut off, a pair of black boots (UK size 11 or US size 12), a large rubber belt, knee pads and a pair of gauntlets, one of which has a serrated stunt weapon which is made from rubber and has fake blood still on it.”

Wait till you hit the red carpet in this!

More hootch

prop_roundbarbottle.jpgNow here’s an interesting looking one. If you were at the Maidenhead Bar and you saw this ominous fellow on the shelf, would you order a shot?

The latest in The Prop Store of London’s botle offerings, this one is dark, round, and has a funky-looking label that looks somewhat communist, which is a provocative thought. We heard about the Chinese culture surviving into the future. Did their political system survive as well? Can anyone offer translations? About the only thng I could discern was that it was 80 proof.

Bank heist duds

Monday, August 14th, 2006

Prop_jaynesgreencostume.jpgJust in at The Prop Store of London, Jayne’s thieving costume from the bank heist.

You get a blue t-shirt with an Asian design on the front, a pair of green combat trousers and a khaki coloured patchwork looking jacket. No weaponry, sorry. You’ll have to steal that yourself.
