“Done the Impossible” is done!
Just announced: Done the Impossible is done! Finally! From the e-mail announcing it:
“After exactly one year of production, we are happy to announce that the documentary and DVD are done! It took considerably longer than we had originally expected, and we appreciate your patience. But we think you will be genuinely surprised by the quality of both the documentary and all of the special features on the DVD and DVD-ROM.
The DVD master was sent to be replicated on July 11th and we expect to begin shipping copies in 7-14 days after that. We will be shipping in the order in which they were received.”
Done the Impossible is “the story of the rise and fall and rebirth of the cult TV show “Firefly,” as told from the perspective of the fans who helped save it.”
Full of interviews with the cast, crew, and fans, this documentary charts the rise of the browncoats that took Joss Whedon’s creations far beyond a TV set or a movie theater. They set out to revive a show, and they created a community. Here’s a partial list of what you’ll see:
- The Documentary (almost 90 minutes long),
- Interactive Timeline
- Trivia
- ‘Verse Dictionary
- Commentary
- ‘What is Firefly?’ - mini-doc
- Music Videos
- Interactive Viewing Experience DVD-ROM with:
- Over six hours of extended VIP and fan interviews
- Printable Fan artwork, recipes and songs.
- Printable Posters and Guerilla Marketing materials
- Fan and VIP Biographies
- Conversion stories
- Live Transcript with links glossary terms
- A Running Fan Count
- All searchable, cross-indexed and obsessively interactive.
All this and a few surprises as well. This is a massive thing, the definitive look at Firefly fandom. If nothing else you have to get it to scan for your face… Hosted by Adam Baldwin, includes voiceovers by Jewel Staite. Head here to see the trailers.
A percentage of the DVD proceeds will be donated to Joss Whedon’s favorite charity, Equality Now.

So what are people’s impressions now that it’s out?
I’m getting the feeling this isn’t the best place to comment and expect many people to respond… :)
