Seldom seen Simon shirt and slacks

Monday, June 19th, 2006

prop_simoncostume.jpgHere’s a chance to get a star-worn costume for less than the price of a house down payment.

This is a costume Simon wore that never made it to the big screen (the scene was deleted, but it wasn’t the costume’s fault). Gray pants and a gray striped shirt with a chain decoration around the neck. ‘Shippers, I’ll let you figure out what that might mean.

New at The Prop Store of London.

Mal’s shirt, and a Reaver ball

Friday, June 16th, 2006

prop_malshirt.jpgNow here’s a cool display for you. One of Mal’s shirts, reddish with metal clasps, in a framed display with a laser-cut movie logo and two movie stills. Hang it up with pride or, for you Fillionaires out there, take it out and rub it all over your face. Go wild, I’m not here to judge.

Also at The Prop Store of London, a spikey Reaver throwing ball thingy.

New Serenity RPG adventure coming soon

Tuesday, June 13th, 2006

rpg_outintheblack.jpgIf you’ve been paying attention or just cruising Amazon for unannounced Serenity stuff (please tell me someone else does that besides me), you probably noticed that the new adventure for the Serenity role-playing game, “Out in the Black” by Tracy and Laura Hickman, didn’t come out on March 15 like Amazon promised. Not surprising, since (apart from Harry Potter) books rarely have a firm ship date, but still a bit disconcerting. Never fear! I’ve got the latest word from Jamie Chambers, vice-president of Margaret Weis Productions:

“With licensing it’s always tricky because of variable approvals, but we’re hopeful to have the book out within the next 6-8 weeks. I’ll send out updates once we know more.”

Keep checking back. The Serenity RPG is one of the best games to come along in years, and we want more of it. So do a lot of people, apparently; the game just went back for a fourth printing! The new copy will include errata and an index.

Designs for spears, swords, staffs, and grapples

Tuesday, June 13th, 2006

prop_serenity-harpoonartwork.jpgNew at the Prop Store: a set of printed production used artwork consisting of three sheets showing designs for Reaver harpoons, one sheet that has Reaver dart designs on it, a sheet with an Agent’s sword design, a sheet with an Alliance shock staff design and a sheet with the grapple used by Simon.

Weekend update - news, updates, and deadlines

Monday, June 12th, 2006

Boy, take a few days off and stuff keeps happening. Fortunately I have dedicated readers and whedonesque to help keep me in the loop…

Stylin Online added more Serenity T-shirt designs. Apparently there’s a market. Who knew?

Amazon dropped the price on the Firefly DVDs back down to $24.97, which could explain why it jumped back into the top ten DVD sales ranking after being in a slump the last few weeks. Of course, even being in the top 30 DVD sales at Amazon is pretty good for a cancelled TV series from four years ago.

Possibly more importantly, Serenity is now $11.99 at Amazon, which is great timing because Serenity Day is just around the corner. Browncoats across the world are planning to buy a copy of Serenity on June 23 (Joss’ birthday) to show Universal we’re still out here, and we still have some money left. Now that it’s almost half-price, why not buy two? Dunno if the sale price will hold till then, but June 23 is the day to buy. The Serenity Day forums are open now, stop by and see what they’re planning.

ArtCat’s Blue Sun Shop now has Reaver on Board car window signs. You can bet people will drive more carefully around you (or else fire at you and then fly away).

Impatient for more Serenity RPG goodness? As with all other Firefly endeavors, fans tend to take up the slack. Check out Serenity RPG Resources, a site with all the extra goodies you could ask for. Character sheets, ship designs, floaty island blueprints, star maps, a Tall Card deck, and a lot more.

And speaking of the Serenity RPG, be sure to go vote for it at the Gamers Choice Awards. Voting closes at midnight tonight, so faster would be better.

And speaking of contests… don’t forget to submit your entry for the Big Damn Chefs cookbook. Deadline is June 15, and the prizes are sweet. Which makes sense, really.

More Little Damn Heroes, a poster sale, and River comes to San Francisco

bmb_mal2simon.jpgBig doings going on at Black Market Beagles!

First, we’ve got the whole crew now that Simon’s been added. And, because BMB was getting requests for a non-naked Mal (for some reason) now there’s another Mal design available! Full cast designs and more on their way, so keep checking.

And for a limited time, all Black Market Beagles posters are 50% off!

bmb_poster.jpgMore cool news: if you’re going to the San Francisco screening of Serenity next week, you can buy a limited edition poster Adam designed. It’s gorgeous. Not available online, you’ll have to go there to get one. Poor baby. (Although there will be B&W versions available at SF Browncoats and Silicon Gulch Browncoats for guerilla marketing purposes) All proceeds to benefit Equality Now!

Signed Wash dino

Monday, June 12th, 2006

prop_lilyellowsigneddino.jpgNew at The Prop Store, another dinosaur toy signed by Alan Tudyk.

Makes you wonder how many of these thngs are out there. Or if some collector, if he or she spent enough money, could reenact dinosaur battles.

“Ho, signed dinosaur! We are well met indeed!”
“And you have met your doom, signed dinosaur!”
“Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal, signed dinosaur!”

It may sound pretentious, but curiously dinosaurs sounded just like that.

Inara shoes and jewelry

Friday, June 9th, 2006

props_inarashoes.jpgInara seems to have left The Prop Store in London rather hurridly; she left her shoes and jewelry behind.

We are, of course, far too discreet to speculate what she might have been doing there.

Serenity: Dark Mirror novel? Don’t count on it

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

book_darkmirror.jpgYou may have seen listings pop up at your favorite online comics store for “Serenity: Dark Mirror,” with a description of the first original Serenity novel. My advice: don’t get your hopes up.

I’ve seen it this week at Forbidden Planet, Wizard Universe, and TFAW.com, among others, drawn from the datafeed from Diamond Comics Distributor. So what the heck is it? Read on for more info:
